Why Teach?
Hello, my name is Teresa. I am currently a junior majoring in early elementary education. I have always loved being around children. I love how innocent and caring they are. It brings joy to me. I used to babysit while in high school for my parents' friends. I was motivated by my 5th and 11th grade teachers. In elementary I struggled to read and understand certain subjects due to being dyslexic. My 5th grade teacher would stay after school and do tutoring with me to catch me up. She inspired me because she took the time to help me progress in my school work. Then in high school I was very unsure on what I wanted to do with my future. It wasn’t until I was put into my elective called instructional practice. I ended up going to elementary’s and shadowing teachers for a full year. I did it for two years and the teachers I got to shadow really admired me to pursue a career.
